Patterns of Force

"We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded as the military," Obama said in the speech that was largely a call to national service.

It's not like Barack Obama is a socialist or anything. It's just that Thomas Friedman wants him to put a "government master" in charge of the country's biggest manufacturing sector. (Automobile manufacturing)

“President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in under served schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps. Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year.”
(Copied from the Obama’s own web site. The wording “to require” community service has now been scrubbed from the site.)

The co-chair of Barack Obama's Transition Team, Valerie Jarrett, appeared on Meet the Press this weekend and told Tom Brokaw that "given the daunting challenges that we face, it's important that president elect Obama is prepared to really take power and begin to rule day one."

Well people, are we starting to see
a pattern here?
