Act 1, Scene 1

The opening of any play starts with "Act 1, Scene 1". Since this is my first Blog entry, we're going to start off with "Scene 1". (That doesn't mean that all subsequent entries will have corresponding theatrical allusions, but it just seemed a fun thing to do!)

"My Point Exactly!" was the name of an editorial newspaper column I wrote for about 8 months.
Actually our local paper was looking for reporters. So I stopped by to talk with the editor of The Yukon Review (bringing some examples of my writing) thinking I might get a part time job as a small town, Oklahoma reporter. When he read my stuff he was the one who broached the idea of me becoming a columist on a weekly basis.

Since my previous work showed good writing skills and a definite strong willed opinion, he thought it would be a good way to generate interesting "Letters to the Editor". He gave me Carte Blanche over content (and a small check every week!).

That is how I became a "Published" writer.

Unfortunately our association only lasted for 8 months due to creative differences with the General Manager of the paper. (I believed he should create a check for each column I submitted and apparently now, he didn't!) Well all good things come to an end but this time I took the opportunity to publish my own columns on the web. Reprinting all my Yukon Review articles along with trying to keep up with a, now electronic, weekly column.

Due to my heavy work load of a full time job and returning to college to get my degree I'm afraid I never kept up with the weekly demand.

But I'm here now!
